How Many Books is too Many Books in a Series?
For me, I think a series is as long as it needs to be. That’s the writer in me talking, though. If an author needs 2 books to tell their story, then write two, if they need 20, write 20! Though as a reader, I’d say no more than 6, unless the author is seriously good at being consistent. If you get more than that you start losing the original essence of what made the story good in the first place, in my experience.

How Do You Feel About Cliffhangers?
Heh… I actually have a funny story about cliffhangers. I’ll get to that in a different post, though. I think they can be effective if the author is good. However… most of the time they come off as really… really bad. The hype is never worth the payoff. Okay, that’s not true, but it’s too often the reality.

Hardcopy or Paperback?
Honestly, paperback. 100%. It’s not just because when I personally publish my books, I can only get them in paperback.
They’re less expensive, I don’t worry I’m going to trash their covers, take off their covers, then ultimately lose and or trash them in my attempt to save them.
*looks woefully at my copy of Deep Blue* I’m so sorry my love…

Favorite Book?
If I had to pick just one, I would say it’s between two books ultimately set in Dungeons and Dragons worlds. Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman and Homeland by R.A. Salvator. The former is what really got me into writing. It inspired me in ways that no other books had to that point. I read it in 6th grade and it opened my eyes, and I haven’t stopped writing since. I don’t know if I’d be where I am without that book. Not only that, but it let me know two people could write together, and that’s been my life for the past decade.
The latter… is because it was just another book that propelled me to write. The descriptions and the sheer beauty of the underground world was just… a masterpiece. Together they showed me what a marvel a fantasy world could be.

Least Favorite Book?
Skyborn. But no, really anything I toss in my little “diaries” could qualify for this. Trust me, I have a lot more coming.
-
Love triangles, yes or no?
I land solidly in the no camp. I’ve read a couple books where it’s done okay, but honestly… just as a trope, it’s gotten tiring. Show me a book where the love triangle is literally a triangle, a polyamorous relationship between three consenting individuals? Sign me the FUCK up.

A Book You’re Currently Reading?
I’m sort of reading The Hate U Give, I say sort of, not because it’s a bad book, but because I don’t have a huge amount of time to read physical books right now, so I’m mainly an Audible fiend. But, I got the physical version of The Hate U Give, so I want to give it the love and attention it deserves, but damn have I gotten slow at reading.
-
Last Book You Recommended to Someone?
The last book I recommended to someone was the amazing I Am Magical: magnifiqueNOIR Book One by Briana D Lawrence it’s literally a magical girl manga, but with amazing LGBT+ black girls as the main characters.
I… really gotta find my copy. I got it signed and everything and damn. I gotta… seriously plug the crap out of Briana and her partner Jessica Walsh they wrote Seeking the Storyteller together and I love them because they’re cool, but also because like… I wanna be them??
-
Oldest Book You’ve Read?
The Art of War so the 5th century, I guess! Damn, I almost forgot about that and went with the first volume of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms written in the 14th century. I didn’t technically finish it, but I read a good chunk of it. I… used to be a huge Dynasty Warriors fan and the games are very loosely based on the events detailed in this book… (written… 10+ centuries after the actual events.)
-
NEWEST BOOK YOU’VE READ?
Well, here’s my time to plug, finally. Soul Rain by Eden R. Souther. I technically helped publish it, but I didn’t write it at all! My partner did. It came out April 26th, 2018! That’s pretty damn recent. If it hadn’t, it would have been The Hate U Give.

Favorite Author?
How dare you. Here’s a list in no particular order.
- Julie Kagawa
- Margaret Weis
- Tracy Hickman
- R. A. Salvator
- Serra Elinsen

Buying Books or Borrowing Books?
Buying. I want to fill out my bookshelf. I have a system. There’s the questionable shelf listed in order of least to most shitty, then above that is all the Dungeons and Dragons books, then above that are the really good Grade A books that I can reach from my loft bed.

A Book You Dislike That Everyone Else Seems to Love?
Honestly… Tiger’s Curse. That shit is getting a DNF diary entry, buckle up.
-
Bookmarks or Dog-Ears?
Now that I’m an adult, definitely bookmarks. I love looking at art on bookmarks. It’s nice to see pretty art while you read.
-
A Book You Can Always Reread?
Definitely Dragons of Autumn Twilight, really that entire series, and then the series after. It’s just… so good.
-
Can You Read While Hearing Music?
Honestly, yes, I really do love to listen to music while I read. It makes things magical. I like to write while listening to music, so it puts me into that mindset of what the author might have been listening to and man, it’s just kind of fun.

One POV or Multiple POV’S?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Multiple.
Wait til October… then you’ll know why.
If it’s past October ← will be a link.

Do You Read a Book in One Sitting or Over Multiple Days?
One sitting, if I can help it. I read REALLY fast when I sit down and do it. If I’m at work it can take me about… the entire shift to get halfway through a 400-page book, if it’s a good book. I am 100% a binge kind of person. I watched 3 seasons of TV in 4 days. I have a problem.

One Book You Read Because of The Cover?
For one, definitely Dragons of Autumn Twilight, this is why I picked it up in the summer before 6th grade. It wasn’t because I had a massive 12-inch burn on my arm and all I was allowed to do was sit inside and read so I was desperate for large books… not at all.
Deep Blue was another one, but that’s because my love for Mermaids knows no bounds and no one will ever stop me from adoring them. LOOK AT THIS COVER. I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS WHEN I SEE IT AND :SKDLGSDFKSDJGKHJFD. BUY THIS BOOK I SWEAR TO GOD THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!
I am a copycat, sorry bab:

Dude, it’s SO WORTH IT. I was such a thirsty bitch for this series, I thought it was going to be 5 books, and as I was finishing the 3rd I was like, I LITERALLY WILL NOT SURVIVE IF I HAVE TO WAIT FOR BOOK 5. And then I realized it was only 4, and the 4th was already out. I don’t think I’ve consumed a book that quickly before.
